007 Fans Fight Daniel Craig

The only thing dumber than an online petition is major news media reporting online petitions as if they’re worthy news. The news media’s latest bout of stupidity is a story that a group of James Bond fans have banded together to protest the casting of Daniel Craig as 007, by starting up a lame petition website, which on principal I will not link to here.

It's being reported everywhere, but this should not be newsworthy. I don’t know how many people are actually in this Bond fan group, but I’m going to go out on a limb here and guess one… maybe two. Who cares what a couple of whiny malcontents think? They’re not just whiny, they’re ill informed and pretty clueless about the whole Bond thing too. Here’s their case: Daniel Craig is wrong because they fired Pierce Brosnan, and Daniel Craig has blond hair. Oh, also Daniel Craig is ugly.

So basically, they’re planning to boycott the film because of the way Daniel Craig looks. They haven’t even seen him in Bond attire, but they think his hair is the wrong color so they’re out. This isn’t a news story, this is a group of attention whoring idiots clamoring for attention and undeservedly getting it.

Give the guy a chance at least people. At least wait till you see him in the movie before you start your useless protesting. And make no mistake, useless is exactly what it is. No studio is going to stop production on a multi million dollar movie just because a few mental midgets start up a website complaining about their casting. If the massive internet outcry of pain over X-Men 3 hasn’t been able to stop that doomed movie, what chance do one or two dorks with a website have?

Let’s shut these people up and stop giving their type publicity right now. Every news outlet that links to their website only encourages more useless online petitions in the future.
