I’ve always been a big Alec Baldwin fan, and it likely stems from the inordinate amount of things we have in common. We both have excellent comedic timing, an affinity for Bill Brasky, and an uncanny knack for getting recorded at the most egregious possible times. Earlier this year, Baldwin was recorded scolding his daughter with a verbose, swear-filled tirade that would have made Bob Saget blush. Late last year, I was recorded, visibly intoxicated, shouting about our nation’s welfare system and enthusiastically and unsuccessfully hitting on the camerawoman. See, we’re practically the same guy. Unfortunately for the former Shadow actor, another recording has leaked that he doesn’t want anyone to see.

According to WENN, Baldwin’s 2001 film, The Devil And Daniel Webster, which he directed and acted in, will be released for the first time with some drastic alterations. The movie, originally given the middle finger and thrown into a locked studio vault, has been reedited and given a new title, Shortcut To Happiness. Baldwin’s directorial title has also been stripped and replaced with the fake sounding “Harry Kirkpatrick” moniker. In response, the scorned actor has gone on record, asking his fans to boycott the neutered and vastly altered piece.

The motion picture is set to be released on July 13th in six different cities. It also stars Dan Aykroyd (The Blues Brothers) and Anthony Hopkins (Meet Joe Black). I really don’t think Baldwin has to much to worry about. There’s no way the general public will end up viewing this, and even if they do, he can always build a fort out of thousand dollar bills and wait for the bad press to wash past.
