I first saw the full trailer for Bewitched a couple of weeks ago, and was surprised by what I saw. They’ve taken this thing in a completely bizarre direction, and I don’t think it’s one anyone anticipated.

Rather than actually translate the TV show to the screen, they’re setting it in our world, a world in which Will Ferrell’s character is the star of a TV show called “Bewitched”. Nicole Kidman his hired to play his wife, the witch… only the catch is that she secretly actually is a witch. It's like someone crossed the TV show "Bewitched" with the oft ignored stage comedy Noises Off and then shook the whole thing vigorously.

Now I wasn’t exactly on board with this movie in the first place, but had some interest due to the presence of Will Ferrell. But turning this thing into such a convoluted mess that completely abandons the premise of the show on which it is supposedly based… is just beyond weird. Not good weird either, bad, stinky, stupid weird. I’m not sure how they’re going to make this movie work now. It’s certainly not “Bewitched”. It’s something else. I’m not sure what, but something else.

Well, now the trailer has been officially released online for everyone to see. So go see it for yourself, and let me know what you think of this confusing, convoluted thing.
