It looks like Aeon Flux has scared Charlize Theron into the warm bosom of the indie world. Action movies weren't kind to her. She's about to start work on the low-budget project Battle of Seattle for her hubby, and now she's signed up for the indie pic Ferris Wheel according to Variety.

She'll star alongside Nick Stahl, Woody Harrelson, Dennis Hopper, Deborra-Lee Furness, and AnnaSophia Robb in the film which is apparently being directed by Bill Maher. That's right, I said Bill Maher.

Hopefully they don't mean that Bill Maher. The closest the "Politically Incorrect" comedian has ever been to making a movie were throwaway roles in movies like Tomkats and Max Headrom. IMDB actually lists several different Bill Maher's, one of whom was a visual effects artist on Mars Attacks!.

Whoever's directing it, the script being written by The Chumscrubber's Zac Stanford will tell the story of an 11-year-old girl trying to come to grips with being abandoned by her mother. Sounds fun.
