Information on the mystery trailer code named “Cloverfield” continues to drip out of Paramount. Today, the Hollywood Reporter managed to find out whose in the cast. The answer? No one you know.

They say that the entire project has been shrouded in mystery from the beginning, so even during the casting process actors weren’t sent script pages or scene descriptions. They were simply asked “hey want to be in this move?” So it’s no surprise that they’ve ended up with a bunch of nobodies. That’s not necessarily a bad thing. In a movie that seems to be pushing so hard to deliver a feeling a reality, watching faces you don’t really recognize is usually only a bonus.

Those faces that you probably won’t recognize are: Michael Stahl-David, Odet Jasmin, Mike Vogel, and Lizzy Kaplan. Michael Stahl-David and Lizzy Kaplan have done some work in TV. Michael was one of ‘The Black Donnellys’ and Lizzy Kaplan was on ‘The Class’, but smallish parts in a couple of unwatched TV shows are the biggest credits in the group.

HR also confirms at least the general plot of the film. As expected, they say it revolves around a monster attack in New York told from the point of view of a small group of people. What we’re looking at here is an updated, alternative version of Godzilla. Plain and simple.
