Economic Collapse May Kill James Bond![]()
Daniel Craig is not what you’d call an optimist. Granted, these days just about everyone is predicting certain doom and gloom for the Earth’s future, but Craig thinks the world economy will soon be so bad it’ll kill James Bond. Or at the least, it seems 007’s post Quantum of Solace future isn’t looking very bright.
Britain’s Daily Mirror quotes Craig as saying, “As far as the next film is concerned, there is nothing scheduled.” And why isn’t there? It seems almost a foregone conclusion at this point that Solace will be the biggest box office smash of the fall. Shouldn’t further sequel plans already be in motion? Craig says, “Economically the world is in quite a lot of trouble so who knows if we can afford to do another Bond movie any time soon?” Maybe James Bond needs to shoot up Wall Street or something? I know we’re all going to be in bread lines by January but when times are tough, Bond is exactly the kind of escapism that people flock to. We may not have much money to go around in the future, but I have feeling that whatever extra money there is will end up being given to movies exactly like his. Bond has seen us through Vietnam, the Cold War, and two Iraq Wars. He’ll see us through Great Depression II too. Now somebody get cracking on that next sequel! |
