Hatchet III Gets A Teaser Trailer And A Release Date
It's been nearly three years since the last time the ghastly image of Victor Crowley, the horrific swamp-dwelling serial murderer played by Kane Hodder, graced the silver screen, but this year he is back and, what's more, we now know exactly when we'll be able to see him once again.
In conjunction with the release of the first teaser trailer for the new movie seen above, Dark Sky Films has announced officially that they will be releasing Hatchet III in theaters on June 14th. putting it in direct competition with both Zack Snyder's Man of Steel, Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg's This is the End, and Sofia Coppola's The Bling Ring.
Unlike the previous two installments of the slasher franchise, which began back in 2006, Adam Green didn't direct the most recent sequel, instead handing that duty over to first-time director BJ McDonnell. Green did, however, write the script and managed to once again get a number of terrific genre names to take part, including Zach Galligan (Gremlins), Derek Mears (2009's Friday the 13th), Caroline Williams (Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2), and Sean Whalen (The People Under the Stairs) among others.
As seen in the trailer, scream queen Danielle Harris will be reprising her role as heroine Marybeth as she leads a whole new crew into the New Orleans swamps to hunt and take down Victor Crowley once and for all. In conjunction with the release date news, Dark Sky has also sent out an official plot synopsis for the film:
HATCHET III continues the tale of the now-iconic villain Victor Crowley (Kane Hodder). As a search and recovery team heads into the haunted swamp to pick up the pieces and carnage left behind from the first two films, Marybeth (Danielle Harris) hunts down the true secret to ending the voodoo curse that has left the ghost of Victor Crowley haunting and terrorizing Honey Island Swamp for decades.
Hatchet II was a pretty decent gore fest, and hopefully this movie will have the same kind of self-awareness and will provide for those just looking for a few good scares on a Friday night.
