Hellboy Creator Mike Mignola Helping Out On The Hobbit

Hellboy Creator Mike Mignola Helping Out On The Hobbit If you want to be excited about Guillermo del Toro directing The Hobbit-- in case you're not already for some reason-- all you need to do is watch either of the Hellboy movies, which are packed with gorgeous visuals, inventive characters and a really key sense of humor. Of course, you can also credit a lot of that to Mike Mignola, the comic book writer who created Hellboy and worked with del Toro to bring the whole thing to the screen.

And apparently del Toro wants to keep Mignola around, even though he's now working with J.R.R. Tolkien's characters instead. Collider caught up with Mignola at last week's Saturn Awards, and he admitted that he's spent some time in New Zealand helping del Toro prep the movie. "So much work had been done before I even got there. There's so much in it. It's too early for me to tell how much stuff is going to get pared down."

You can see a lot more of what he had to say in Collider's video, which we've embedded below. We all figured del Toro's vision of The Hobbit would include a little bit of Hellboy, but with Mignola's participation, we may have even more to look forward to.
