In the last 51 years, Spider-Man has not only stood the test of time as a comic book hero, but has become a true pop culture icon. Not only are comics about the webslinger still some of the most popular issues that Marvel produces, the character has been a part of films, television series, novels, radio shows and even Broadway. And yet, there are still some details about the character that a lot of the general public doesn’t know about.

With Marc Webb’s The Amazing Spider-Man 2 already out in theaters nationwide and heading to the United States next weekend, I’ve decided to dedicate this week’s episode of Hero Blend to answer some questions that non-Spidey fanatics may not know about. To help me in this cause, I’ve once again invited Cinema Blend creative director Mack Rawden – a comic book newbie – on to co-host and do another special episode of “Mack Asks.”

Why is Spider-Man almost always portrayed as being a teenager or a young guy in his 20s? What exactly happened behind the scenes of Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man 4? Why hasn’t Daily Bugle editor/Spider-Man hater/general loud-mouth J. Jonah Jameson appeared in the new franchise yet? Watch the video above to find out!

The Amazing Spider-Man 2 opens in theaters May 2nd, and you can find more episodes of Hero Blend right here.
