Jason Bateman May Star With Vince Vaughn In The Insane Laws![]()
It would seem that Jason Bateman and Vince Vaughn are pretty close pals. In the last seven years the two appeared in four films together, including Dodgeball, The Break Up, Couples Retreat and Starsky & Hutch., but the strange thing is that while they have shared scenes and dialogue, they've never done a film where they play the central two characters. That's about to change.
Deadline reports that Bateman has entered early negotiations to star in Jeremy Garelick's The Insane Laws, which Vince Vaughn (who is apparently not yet formally attached, though very interested). Purchased by Universal a few months ago, should the deal go through Bateman and Vaughn will play best friends who find their relationship being tested when they both have kids in college and one of the father's son impregnates the other father's daughter. The film is Garelick's directorial debut, though he wrote The Break Up, which, as previously mentioned, had roles for both actors. Bateman and Vaughn recently did a read-through of the script together and the film may be targeting a fall production. The Insane Laws is an awful title as it is, but this story seems to suggest that the two kids aren't married, when just makes it non-nonsensical. Looking at the titles above, you'll notice that movies in which Bateman and Vaughn star together have a high hit-or-miss quotient, so it will be interesting to see where this project falls on that line. Couldn't be worse than Couples Retreat, right? |
