Jeffrey Tambor, Brendan Gleeson And More To Lend Their Voices To Henry Selick's The Shadow King

Stop-motion animation filmmaker Henry Selick has a track record of casting actors for their voices instead of their names. Certainly his casts have included names you recognize, including Dakota Fanning, Richard Dreyfus, Teri Hatcher, Ian McShane, Keith David, David Thewlis, Chris Sarandon and Paul Reubens, they were assigned their parts because they were the right performers needed for their roles. So it should be no surprise that the cast of his latest features some talented performers that you wouldn't necessarily expect.

Bleeding Cool has gotten their hands on a new bit of artwork from the European Sales for Selick's new film The Shadow King and has gotten a hold of a list of the five stars. While no character details are given, here is the rundown:
  • Jaden Betts as Hap
  • Pamela Adlon as Richard
  • Brendan Gleeson as Darce
  • Jeffrey Tambor as Cuzzie Bell
  • Catherine O’Hara as Miss Fern

This will actually be the second time that O'Hara has worked with Selick, having also voiced both Sally and Shock in the director's The Nightmare Before Christmas (she also played multiple roles in Tim Burton's Frankenweenie last year). Check out the sales poster that the source posted below and head over there to see it full size.

It was just last night that we learned K5 had signed a deal to back The Shadow King and the plot synopsis was revealed. The story follows a young orphan named Hap (Betts) who lives in shame of his hands with weirdly long fingers "from a cruel world." When he discovers that his fingers allow him to create shadow puppets, however - with the help of a living shadow girl - he suddenly becomes the greatest weapon against a monster that wants to kill Hap's brother Richard (Adlon) and destroy New York.
