The first trailer for Hayden Christensen and Sam Jackson’s new sci-fi movie Jumper is here. Boy I had this movie all wrong. From the plot descriptions Fox has been putting out there, the film never sounded like anything this awesome. Previous information released on the film made it sound like a bigger budget version of The Butterfly Effect, but what it actually looks like is a fresh, flat out cool take on secret war world presented in The Matrix. Samuel L. Jackson is the new Laurence Fishburne.
Jumper stars former Darth Vader Hayden Christensen as a teenager who discovers he has the power to teleport to anywhere in the world any time he wants. Since he’s a teenager, at first he uses it to get a sweet apartment, teleport from the couch to the refrigerator, and generally have the best time ever. That is until he’s hunted down by Samuel L. Jackson, who recruits him to be part of some sort of secret, underground battle for… something.
Ok, even my plot synopsis just doesn’t do director Doug Liman’s movie justice. The trailer is just so much cooler than that. I love the sense of forward motion you get when the trailer goes into a "jumping effect". I wonder how this thing would look in Imax? You’ll never forgive yourself if you don’t watch it right now.
