The Muppets Celebrate Sequels In New Music Video From Muppets Most Wanted
In addition to simply getting to watch the antics of Kermit The Frog and company, one of the biggest reasons why we here at Cinema Blend are highly anticipating Muppets Most Wanted is because of its music. The soundtrack for the last film was brilliant and hilarious, and the movie even walked away with an Academy Award thanks to Bret McKenzie's "Man or Muppet." McKenzie is back taking care of the soundtrack for the sequel as well, and from the look and sound of the new music video/trailer you see above (thanks to Apple), the new soundtrack he is creating will be filled with even more instant classics.
A funny detail about this song is that it was probably originally going to be the movie's title track... that is, before the title of the movie changed. While the film will be heading to theaters as "Muppets Most Wanted," up until last June the name of the project was "The Muppets...Again, which you'll note are the final lyrics of this song. Can't you imagine this scene ending with a title card crashing on to the screen?
Muppets Most Wanted, which, like the last film, is being directed by James Bobin, is actually the first direct sequel in the Muppets franchise. As you can see in the video, the story will pick-up just a few moments after the end of The Muppets and will find Kermit, Miss Piggy, Fozzy Bear, Gonzo, and the rest hopping on a train to start an international tour around Europe to cash in on their resurrected popularity. Unfortunately, their trip gets interrupted when they cross paths with Constantine, a notorious thief who has been on a crime spree and happens to look exactly like Kermit (with the exception of a mole on his cheek). In classic Muppets fashion, the movie will be filled with a ton of celebrity cameos, but the main human stars will be Ricky Gervais as Dominic Badguy, Constantine's assistant; Tina Fey as Nadya, a Russian prison guard; and Ty Burrell as Jean Pierre Napoleon, a French INTERPOL agent on the hunt for Constantine.
Muppets Most Wanted will be in theaters less than a month from now on March 21st. Enjoy some of the best music moments from the last film below:
