When trailers fall in between the Cinema Blend’s couch cushions, they eventually get vacuumed up and deposited here in Trailer Trash. Today's bag of Trailer Trash contains four future viewing possibilities.
First up is the much sought after trailer for the Beatles inspired musical Across the Universe. It’s lush, beautiful, and owes as much to Moulin Rouge as it does to John Lennon. Second, a featurette for the Tarantino/Rodriguez double feature Grindhouse in which the dueling directors talk about why they’re making a movie about women with machine gun legs. Third, a strange trailer for the strange zombie movie Fido. Apparently zombies make great pets… as long as you keep them on a leash. Last, a trailer for the new star-studded serial killer movie Mr. Brook. Kevin Costner, Dane Cook, Demi Moore, and William Hurt all in one trailer.
Across the Universe
This has been one of the most sought after trailers on our message board. It’s been in theaters, but until now it’s been unavailable on the internet. The movie is a musical of sorts, but it uses nothing but Beatles music. Actually, it looks a little like Moulin Rouge, if it were set in Vietnam and skewed a little bit more on the side of realism. The trailer is absolutely fascinating and this is either going to be one of the most groundbreaking films of the year or one of 2007’s biggest disasters
ACROSS THE UNIVERSE TRAILER
Grindhouse
Two 75 minute horror movies written by Quentin Tarantino & Robert Rodriguez put together as a two film features make up the Grindhouse. There's no unifying theme except gore, grit, and a weird retro-style. This isn't science, it's grind house cinema in its purest form. Brains will splatter and gorehounds will giggle with glee. Recently Tarantino and Rodriguez sat down and filmed themselves talking about what’s up with their Grindhouse. It’s not a trailer exactly, but it’s two geeky directors geeking out about their movie. It’s worth watching. Click below:
Fido Fido is about zombies, but friendly ones. In the small town of Willard everyone has a zombie for a helper. They take out the trash, clean toilets, walk dogs, and oh yeah when no one is looking they’re eating the neighbors. When Timmy’s parents finally give in and become the last people on the block to have their own zombie, Timmy discovers a new best friend, and names him Fido. And even though Dad has a bad case of zombie-phobia, Timmy is determined to keep Fido, even if he does eat the odd person. If the movie is half as funny as the concept, Shaun of the Dead may finally have some zombie comedy competition. Click below to watch
Mr. Brooks
Kevin Costner, Dane Cook, William Hurt, and Demi Moore star in a movie about a loving family man and serial killer. Costner plays Mr. Brooks, a man addicted to killing. Struggling with his pathology, he tries to quit, but his alter-ego, “Marshall” (Hurt), has an altogether different idea. “Marshall” enjoys his “existence” and his “work.” Click below and watch the first trailer:
