Transformers 2 Makes Big Money Overseas![]()
Even though we’re still waiting here in America, Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen opened in both Japan and the United Kingdom to scathing reviews and of course, massive box office. MichaelBay.com is reporting that the film grossed $20 million dollars over the weekend in just those two countries.
In the UK alone it earned $14.1 mil. That may seem like a small number compared the $100 million weekends we’ve seen here in America but the UK is a much smaller country with a smaller number of theaters. It did that in only 517 locations, which leaves it outperforming the opening weekends of movies like Spider-Man 2 and put it in the neighborhood of the box office performance seen by The Dark Knight there. As a reference point, Terminator Salvation only made around $11.5 million it’s opening weekend in the United Kingdom. Short version: Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen is poised to make a lot of money here in America, and it’s already raking in the cash internationally. At this point it’s almost a foregone conclusion that this will be the biggest movie of the summer. Anything less will be considered a disappointment. |
