Turbo Trailer Turns Ryan Reynolds Into A Racing Snail
If slow and steady really won the race every time, snails might have the advantage over some of the more swiftly moving creatures in existence. But the snail featured in Dreamwork's upcoming 3D animated comedy Turbo may have what it takes to go the distance. The trailer for the film suggests he's especially motivated.
Turbo's new trailer begins with Ryan Reynolds' voice speaking over the vroom of racing cars zipping around a track. And then we're introduced to Reynolds' character, who's exactly the guy in the car we were just watching…
Turbo follows a snail who dreams of being the fastest of his kind and gets the chance to do so when an accident gives him the power of super-speed. But getting to the finish line may require the help of a solid crew and a perhaps a lesson learned in the value of teamwork.
The trailer offers a glimpse of the potential for a great 3D animated film as we see cars engaged in an intense race around a track and then grind to a much slower pace to watch the title character inching his way along his own track. Set to Cake's "Going the Distance," Turbo is introduced to us as he deftly maneuvers and mussels for rank (that's some Cake-themed mollusc humor for you there) while he attempts to improve his time.
Turbo arrives in theaters July 19, 2013. More information can be found in our Blend Film Database.
