It became pretty clear earlier this summer that Resident Evil 6 - a.k.a. Resident Evil: The Final Chapter - wouldn't be making its announced September 2014 release date. After all, writer/director Paul W.S. Anderson revealed he was still working on the second draft of the script in June. But for those of you who were hoping that the sequel would end up in theaters sometime in 2015, I have some bad news.
The film we've known as Resident Evil 6 has now been officially named “Resident Evil: The Final Chapter.” Or as it will be known to the internet community, “Resident Evil: About Damned Time.”
The Resident Evil franchise is one that you might call a bit of an odd duck. While audiences here in the United States pretty much just shrug at the movies - none of them have made more than $65 million during their domestic run - movie-goers abroad absolutely eat them up.
While some fans clamor for a trilogy’s finale because their anticipation for the film has reached its unbearable apex, others are anxiously waiting for that franchise to be completely eradicated from the daily entertainment headlines. The Resident Evil franchise is the perfect example of both of these polarized viewpoints...
