Drake Won More Billboard Awards Than He Could Carry

Drake was smiling from ear to ear at the 2017 Billboard Music Awards (BBMA). The 30-year-old Canadian rapper took home a total of 13 awards throughout the night. His sizable number of honors exceeded the record Adele held for the most BBMA wins by an artist in one evening. In fact, he won so many awards that he could not even carry all of the cumbersome prizes all at once. Check out the amazing photo evidence:

Drake's big night put him in good company with the award show's club of winningest artists. Now with a total of 14 career wins from the Billboard Music Awards, Drake has surpassed Beyoncé and Rihanna, who each have 12, and he has tied Mariah Carey, who also has 14. Taylor Swift, who has taken 21 BBMA honors throughout her career, retains the record as the artist with the most career wins from the BBMA. So, Drake may have broken the record Adele held for the most BBMA wins by an artist in one evening, but he has some catching up to do if he wants to take the top spot for career wins one day. Perhaps his latest playlist, More Life, will find him more awards next year. But first Drake is undoubtedly relishing in the ones he received this year. Here is another shot of Drake looking as happy as can be with his record-breaking number of trophies, at least ones won in a single night at the Billboard Music Awards:

Drake and the Chainsmokers started the awards show tied for 22 nominations. The Chainsmokers received four honors, but Drake went on to win Top Hot 100 Artist, Top Male Artist, Top Billboard 200 Artist, Top Song Sales Artist, Top Streaming Songs Artist, and Top Rap Artist. Drake's 2016 Views album won Top Billboard 200 Album and Top Rap Album. His track "One Dance" featuring Wizkid and Kyla won Top Streaming Song (Audio) and Top R&B Song. Drake's song "Come and See Me" featuring PartyNextDoor won Top R&B Collaboration, and his Boy Meets World Tour won Top Rap Tour. Plus, Drake beat out Adele, Ariana Grande, Beyoncé, Justin Bieber, Rihanna, Shawn Mendes, the Chainsmokers, the Weeknd, and Twenty One Pilots to win the Top Artist award, which he received from presenter Prince Jackson, the eldest son of the late Michael Jackson and big brother of Paris Jackson.

Winning awards was not the only success Drake had at the Billboard Music Awards. He gave an excellent performance at the Fountain of the Bellagio. Drake flirted with the award show's host, actress Vanessa Hudgens. Plus, he met Canadian vocal goddess Celine Dion backstage and bowed to her--like you do in the presence of royalty.

With one look at the photos above, you can tell how happy and proud Drake felt at the Billboard Music Awards. It will be fun to see if he can outdo himself in years to come.
