Justin Timberlake Enters Billboard Hot 100 But Bruno Mars Keeps The Top Slot

The last week has been a big week for Justin Timberlake, who has managed to jump back into the music business, debut a new song and website, and try to make MySpace relevant, again. The actor and music-maker’s new track, “Suit & Tie” only debuted a few days ago, but it’s been popular enough, entering the Billboard Hot 100 charts. Still, Timberlake hasn’t managed to even come close to beating smooth crooner Bruno Mars.
“Locked Out of Heaven” retained its position on the Hot 100 charts, although it did falter a little bit on some of the other charts, including the digital sales chart, which saw the single drop 31%. Still, for fans of the singer and the song, it was a hard-fought battle to earn the #1 slot, eventually beating Rihanna’s “Diamonds,” and “Locked out of Heaven” probably deserves at least a few more weeks of extra love. However, as Billboard is noting the song’s overall numbers are slipping, it might be time sooner rather than later for a new song to enter the charts at #1.
In the interim, however, I expect Timberlake’s “Suit & Tie” to continue to creep up the charts. The song entered at 84, which is good for a song that only entered the fray on Monday, but the track has a long way to climb before it is even in contention for a top slot. On the way it must pass Macklemore and Ryan Lewis’ “Thrift Shop,” which has been steadily closing in on “Locked out of Heaven.” Other tracks in the way of “Suit & Tie’s” success include The Lumineers’ “Ho Hey” and will.i.am and Britney Spears’ “Scream & Shout.” The song is the first single from Timberlake’s upcoming third studio album The 20/20 Experience
