Justin Timberlake Takes Responsibility For Homeless Wedding Video

There are times to apologize and times to stand your ground, and sometimes the right choice doesn’t have anything to do with merit. Following Justin Timberlake’s wedding, a video one of his friends made was leaked that featured homeless people apologizing for not being able to attend the ceremony. It was clearly meant as a goofy, tongue in cheek gift, but advocates and the overly empathetic found the entire thing distasteful. Over the past day or two, the outcry has built among certain segments of the population, leaving JT with a choice. He could either apologize or stand his ground.

Let the record show Timberlake took the right approach. Despite having nothing to do with the video’s execution or even being informed of its existence prior to his wedding weekend, the pop star/ actor released a statement today that takes responsibility for what happened and lets people know his friends are actually good dudes at heart. Here’s an excerpt of the open letter published on Timberlake’s official website
” I want to say that, on behalf of my friends, family, and associative knuckleheads, I am deeply sorry to anyone who was offended by the video. Again, it was something that I was not made aware of. But, I do understand the reaction and, by association, I am holding myself accountable.”

In the grand scheme of things, this stupid video isn’t important. There’s no point in actually defending it, and there’s no point in actually answering questions about it. It’s some nonsense one of his friends made, but rather than having to answer questions about it for the next year, Timberlake manned up and took the high road. Good for him.
