The “July 20 Plot” on Hitler’s life is one of the most heroic but least known episodes of World War Two. Severely wounded in combat, Colonel Claus von Stauffenberg returns from Africa to join the German Resistance and help create Operation Valkyrie, the complex plan that will allow a shadow government to replace Hitler’s once he is dead. But fate and circumstance conspire to thrust Stauffenberg from one of many in the plot to a double-edged central role. Not only must he lead the coup and seize control of his nation’s government… He must kill Hitler himself.

As much as I believe at one time Tom Cruise had a couple screws loose (perhaps he was just head over heels for Katie Holmes because now he seems to have calmed down), I still respect him as an actor... but not only an actor but an actor that can play the lead role in some very compelling and groundbreaking movies. Isn't it true that there are many highly respected actors that are also a little kooky?? (i.e. John Malkovich, Daniel Day Lewis, etc.)
I feel that Valkyrie will be one of his groundbreakers. A compelling true story plot currently being filmed in the very places these events took place... along with a top notch director such as Bryan Singer, it seems that this film has the right ingredients for a stellar movie.
If only the crew can get over their reported spell of some serious bad luck, maybe this will be next years' equal to Schindler's List. We can only hope that with a prestigious list backing this film, it won't be a disappointment to audiences next year.
I agree Cruise seems to have a loose screw but like they say behind every genius is a mad man. I will give it to him that he does not seem like a bad person so I wonder why people are determined to vilify him. This movie seems like a winner.
