2008 Fall TV Preview: Gossip Girl

Gossip Girl - Season 2 Premieres: Monday, September 1, 2008 at 8:00 p.m. EST Network: The CW Creator(s): Josh Schwartz, Stephanie Savage Starring: Blake Lively, Leighton Meester, Penn Badgley, Chace Crawford, Taylor Momsen, Ed Westwick, Kelly Rutherford, Matthew Settle Website: CWTV.com  Gossip Girl in a nutshell is a teen drama series on The CW that centers on a bunch of rich kids with too much money and too much drama. When the series began, Serena returned from boarding school to re-enter the posh New York socialite circle, much to the dismay of Blair, another rich girl who doesn’t like being in Serena’s shadow. Sex, betrayal and of course, a secret blogger who publishes all of the juicy gossip for these Upper East Side kids to read at their leisure keeps this show chock full of drama.  Eh, I don’t know what it is but I just wasn’t able to get into this show when it first premiered. Sure, the cast is pretty and the promos (including the new ones posted below) seem to emphasize the steamy drama that runs rampant among these privileged kids, which should make the series totally addicting. But for whatever the reason, it just doesn’t work for me. My disinterested in Gossip Girl is actually one of the reasons I’m not sure I’ll be able to get into the new 90210 series.
