The Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D. Spinoff Has Found Its First Villain

Bobbi Morse and Lance Hunter departed Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. last week in “Parting Shot,” but they’re not leaving the Marvel Cinematic Universe altogether. The two ex-agents are leading a new pilot, titled Marvel’s Most Wanted, and aside from Adrianne Palicki and Nick Blood reprising the ex-husband and wife duo, the only other actor who’s been announced so far is Delroy Lindo as adventurer Dominic Fortune. Now it’s been announced that The Mummy’s Oded Fehr is joining the spinoff as a villain.

Fehr’s character is described as a well-known character from Marvel Comics who will “prove a force to be reckoned with” for Bobbi and Lance in the spinoff. Those were the only details that TV Line provided, so those details don’t exactly narrow down the options. One of the common fan guesses is Taskmaster, a mercenary whose muscle memory has been enhanced so he can mimic any physical movement he sees, making him a master in multiple forms of combat. Although the live action rights to Taskmaster reverted from 20th Century Fox back to Marvel several years ago, he hasn’t been used in the MCU yet, and since there’s no indication he’ll be popping up in the movies, TV would be the next best option.

Although this is Fehr’s first live action comic book-related project, he’s no stranger to the world of superhero animation. He previously voiced The Living Mummy in Marvel’s Ultimate Spider-Man and Hulk and the Agents of S.M.A.S.H., while his DC credits include voicing Dr. Fate in Justice League/Justice League Unlimited, Equinox in Batman: The Brave and the Bold and Ra’s al Ghul in Young Justice.

In addition to Fehr’s casting, it was also confirmed that The Devil Inside’s Fernanda Andrade has been cast in Marvel’s Most Wanted as Christina Santos, Dominic Fortune’s “tough-as-nails” niece. Christina will be working alongside her uncle to help Bobbi and Lance, but the two of them will also be pursing their own agenda.

After cutting their ties with S.H.I.E.L.D., Marvel’s Most Wanted will follow Bobbi Morse and Lance Hunter as they find themselves on the run with a long list of enemies after the bounty on their heads. With no other allies to call upon, they’ll form an “uneasy alliance” with Dominic Fortune, a man who has years of experience under his belt and a lot of resources. He’ll help Bobbi and Lance on their missions across the world, as long as they help him with his own agenda, and while they’re protecting others, the ex-S.H.I.E.L.D. agents will try to figure out who’s behind the conspiracy against them. It’s probably safe to assume that Fehr’s character is one of the folks out for their heads.

Should Marvel’s Most Wanted be picked up as a series, it will air on ABC presumably in the fall or as a mid-season replacement for Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. while it’s on hiatus, although that may depend on how Agent Carter shakes out. We’ll keep you apprised of any updates on its development.
