Adult Swim's NTSF:SD:SUV:: appears to be a headed into its biggest season ever, with plans to film in Los angeles and London for Season 3. A jump across the Pond seems particularly fitting with word that Karen Gillan is joining the cast this season. The announcement that Gillan, who's known and loved for playing Amy Pond in Doctor Who came today, along with word that production has begun on Season 3 of the live-action comedy series, which returns in July.
The quarter-hour live-action comedy series stars Paul Scheer as Trent Hauser, a Jack Bauer-type fighter of terrorism. The comedy, which also stars Kate Mulgrew, Rebecca Romijn, Rob Riggle, Peter Serafinowicz, Brandon Johnson and Martin Starr, parodies police procedurals and action movies.
No details on the nature of Gillan's role were mentioned, but with plans to film in the U.K., perhaps we'll see her somewhere in the British District of San Diego, which will be featured in a "sweeping NTSF:SD:SUV:: two-part epic." Season 3 will also feature the return of THE TIME ANGELS, and Trent and his team will continue their efforts to rid San Diego of terrorism this season, which will also include the kidnapping of an alien, faking their own deaths, getting into the viral video biz, unfreezing a former 1960's radical and boarding Comic-Con Air. Only in San Diego!
“Adult Swim continues to exercise sound judgment in programming NTSF:SD:SUV:: for a third season. If this decision were on Facebook, I would click 'Like’,” said executive producer Jonathan Stern.
Meanwhile, series star and executive producer Paul Scheer expressed a similar level of enthusiasm, saying, "I’m really excited to be quoted in this article."
We're really excited to quote you, Mr. Scheer.
