Foxy Knoxy's Family Threatens Lawsuit Over Lifetime Movie

Well, this is hardly a shock. Lawyers representing the family of convicted murderer Amanda Knox have demanded Lifetime pull its upcoming original movie about the case. Amanda Knox: Murder On Trial In Italy starring Hayden Panettiere is scheduled to air on February 21st, but if it’s not officially pulled by February 10th, the family intends to sue the network.

Nicknamed Foxy Knoxy, the American exchange student was studying in Italy when her roommate was found sexually assaulted and murdered. The prosecutor originally claimed the death of Meredith Kercher was part of a Satanic ritual, but those wild accusations were later proved unfounded. A Jonbenet Ramsey like media circus soon erupted, as some Americans bitched about the Italian legal system and others pointed the finger squarely at Amanda Knox. After a six month trial, she was convicted and sentenced to twenty-six years in prison. The case is currently up for appeal.

According to Deadline, Lifetime is yet to issue a formal response and claims not to have received a copy of the letter. No doubt the cable network will have something to say shortly.
