Psych Renewed For Season 8 Ahead Of Season 7 Premiere

Psych fans are likely to be anticipating the USA series' upcoming seventh season, which will include the show's Clue-themed 100th episode. What could there possibly be to look forward to beyond that? How about Season 8? Word is in that the show has been renewed for another season.

The news comes from a Tweet on the Psych Twitter page, which includes the image below, along with the tweet, "What better holiday gift could we give you? #Psych has been picked up for an 8th season!"

Pysch going to eight seasons puts it on track with USA's beloved detective series Monk, which also ran for eight seasons. Whether or not Psych manages to top that with a ninth season, it's far too soon to tell, considering Season 7 hasn't even premiered yet. For all we know, Season 8 will be the final season of the series (TVLine speculates that scenario as a possibility).

Psych stars James Roday and Dule Hill as Shawn and Gus, two life-long friends who do detective work, using Shawn's keenly honed observational skills, which allow him to pose as a psychic. The cast also includes Timothy Omundson, Maggie Lawson, Kirsten Nelson and Corbin Bernsen.

The series' seventh season will debut February 27 on USA. And now it looks like fans can rest assured, knowing there will be even more Psych to come when Season 7 wraps up!

Anyone else now craving pineapple?

Update: USA's official announcement states that they've picked up eight episodes for Season 8.
