Resident Evil's Sienna Guillory Joins Luther For Season 3
BBC America’s Luther has added a new face to the cast for the upcoming second season. Sienna Guillory, best known for movies like Love Actually and the Resident Evil films in which she plays Jill Valentine, will be coming on board the series to play a love interest for main character John Luther.
Luther stars Idris Elba as the title character, a brilliant detective who is committed to his job to the detriment of his personal life. Sienna Guillory will be playing Mary Day, a woman who works in a vintage clothing store and catches Luther’s eye. Guillory describes the character as “the right girl in the wrong place” and alludes to “disastrous fun” as a result of the meeting between the two.
Guillory’s work has mostly been in film, but she has made a few television appearances. A few years back she guest starred on CSI as well as on Covert Affairs, so she does come with some experience in crime shows. She has two new movies coming up, The List and The Whole Banana, but both have completed filming, so she’ll have plenty of time to focus on her new TV role.
Luther has just started filming for the long-awaited third season. Luther will be facing an ex-cop who is trying to destroy him while attempting to solve two conflicting cases – along with his new love interest. Idris Elba picked up a Golden Globe win in 2012 for his role in the series. The new season is set to be an intense one, with an anticipated premiere sometime in 2013.
