Third Watch's Anthony Ruivivar And The Like's Annie Monroe Join Southland For Season 5

TNT’s Southland has added two new faces for the fifth season, set to premiere in February. Third Watch’s Anthony Ruivivar and alt-rock musician Annie Monroe have both signed on for recurring roles in the cop drama.

Ruivivar will be playing a longtime Los Angeles police officer, a Mexican-American name Lucero who was raised in the tough neighborhood of East LA. His role is set to last throughout the season. Ruivivar, who spent 6 seasons starring on Third Watch also spent a few episodes on one of TNT’s other dramas, Major Crimes and has appeared on The Mentalist and Burn Notice in the past year. He also has a role in the upcoming Cinemax drama Banshee which comes from True Blood creator Alan Ball. That series premieres on January 11th.

Annie Monroe, who has a few acting credits including House of Lies (in an episode that has yet to air), is best known as the organ player for the LA-based alternative band The Like. She appeared in her musician role on an episode of 90210. This is her first recurring role on a TV series, and she will be playing a love interest for Ben McKenzie’s character, Ben Sherman, according to Deadline.

Southland got it’s renewal order for Season 5 back in the spring, and has also added Chad Michael Murray of One Tree Hill in a major role for the new season. Although Southland usually premieres in January, this year the drama won’t be back on the air until a little later. The fifth season premiere is set for February 13th at 10 p.m. ET.
