As if you couldn't tell by the preview, there are only three episodes left for the first season of Under the Dome. The preview for "Speak of the Devil" isn't shy about selling some of the more intense moments lined up for the episode, including fighting, someone getting shot and some seriously bad weather.
In last week's episode, "Let the Games Begin," Big Jim found out about Barbie's little secret. Before Jim left Agatha to fend for herself in the lake, she let slip that Barbie killed Peter. Based on the episode description for "Speak of the Devil," it looks like Jim's all too eager to let that cat out of the bag:
“Speak of the Devil” – Big Jim turns the town against Barbie when the truth about his past is revealed. Meanwhile, Maxine makes it personal when she confronts Barbie’s closest ally, on UNDER THE DOME, Monday, Sept. 2 (10:00-11:00 PM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network. Natalie Zea guest stars as Maxine.
Did Agatha's body turn up? That's what I'm wondering. Because a secret like Barbie's could prove to be really useful for a guy like Rennie to use to deflect some attention off of himself and onto Barbie if he thinks people suspect him of murdering the woman. Or Rennie's just looking for a way to discredit Barbie. There's always that.
The preview also teases Julia getting shot - by who? We also see a tornado (and Junior) knocking Angie off her feet - if he saves her life, does that redeem Junior for locking Angie in a bunker and killing a guy? Yeah, I don't think so either. And we have Norrie talking about being "guardians of some secret, cosmic mystery." Sounds about right!
With just a few episodes left for the season, things appear to be coming to a head. That's part of the reason I've been wondering if the dome will come up by the season's end. It seems like everything is escalating at a feverish pace. How long before it all implodes? (Or should we be preparing ourselves for the kind of mayhem that ensues in the book?) For the residents of Chester's Mill, let's hope not. But what if the dome did come up? Maybe just long enough for some people to get in and others to get out? And then it comes down again in anticipation of the second season… Wouldn't that be interesting?
Back to "Speak of the Devil," It looks like laying down is sort of a theme here…
We know Julia's been shot, but what are Angie, Joe and Norrie doing? My guess is examining the stars in the domatarium to try to figure out what the constellations mean.
