Under The Dome Sneak Peek Shows Rennie And Barbie Having A Chat
It's Friday, which - for Under the Dome - means the latest episode of the series is up on Amazon and available for free streaming for Amazon Prime subscribers. So if you haven't seen Episode 2 ("The Fire") yet, and you're an Amazon Prime subscriber, now's your chance to enjoy it in its entirety, commercial free! And on that subject, if you haven't seen "The Fire" yet, read no further, because you're about to be spoiled! The above clip gives us a look at this Monday night's episode, "Manhunt," and it seems Jim Rennie has set his sights on Barbie.
With all the commotion at the end of "The Fire," one thing slipped my observation. By tackling Paul to the ground after he fired his gun off and shot Deputy Freddie in the process, Barbie drew the spotlight onto himself. I think that says something about his character, personally. It shows he's a man of action and he puts others before himself. Because if he was thinking rationally and worrying about his own sense of survival under the dome, he might not have been so quick to interfere and draw attention to himself. Alas, he did just that when he detained Paul, and based on the clip above, it looks like Rennie is interested in making good use of Barbie's skills.
Though the clip shows Rennie enlisting Barbie's help, presumably in tracking down Paul, the rogue deputy who ends up on the loose somewhere inside Chester's Mill, it seems like there's a tone of suspicion in Rennie's voice, like maybe he knows there's more to Barbie than meets the eye, but he's willing to put that aside for now if Barbie is willing to help him. Or maybe I'm reading too much into this. Either way, the conversation also indicates that Paul's got his own skills, which could make catching him particularly hard.
Yesterday, we posted the mildly extended "Manhunt" Preview and also the following episode description, which teases the titular manhunt and also Junior Rennie's intentions…
“Manhunt” – When a former deputy goes rogue, Big Jim recruits Barbie to join the manhunt to keep the town safe. Meanwhile, Junior is determined to escape the dome by going underground, on UNDER THE DOME, Monday, July 8 (10:00-11:00 PM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network.
Something tells me Junior's attempts to get out of the town underground aren't going to work out, but the preview pretty much gives that away when we see him banging his fists on the dome. While we wait for July 8, you can check out our breakdown of "The Fire" here.
