Batman Leaps To Blu-ray

Batman is going to be all the rage this summer. Expect to see Bat-happy meals, Bat-pizzas, and Bat-sodas in restaurants and stores everywhere. It’s happening on DVD as well. We’ve already talked about Batman: Gotham Knight, the animated bridge between Batman Begins and this summer’s The Dark Knight. Now the classic Batman will be putting in an appearance on Blu-ray as Adam West’s Batman: The Movie gets a new release.

Some of the features announced for the July 1st Blu-ray release have been seen before, most notably on the special edition DVD of Batman: the Movie. It’s not all rehashed material, however. Look for a 360-degree tour of the Batmobile and an additional audio track that isolates the score from the rest of the movie, allowing viewers to tune in solely to Nelson Riddle’s jazzy music.

Batman: the Movie is arguably the campiest version of the Dark Knight’s story, although still not as bad as Batman and Robin. Batman and Robin are put to the test when Catwoman, the Joker, the Riddler, and the Penguin join forces to take over the world.

Here’s a look at the special features planned for this July 1st Blu-ray release:
