Rumor: Star Wars Coming To Blu-Ray In October 2011?

The hard-working chaps over at The Digital Bits are gearing up for their coverage of the annual Consumer Electronics Show, which begins tomorrow in Las Vegas. And from the sound of it, the show may kick off with a bang with the official announcement of a release date for Star Wars on Blu-ray. According to DB's sources and a flyer they've scanned (which you can see below), an official announcement will be coming tomorrow morning.

In the meantime, here's what the rumor mill has to say. Digital Bits reports that Lucasfilm and 20th Century Fox Home Entertainment will be bringing the Star Wars saga to Blu-ray in October 2011, possibly on either the 18th or the 25th, as part of a 35th Anniversary Collection. The set would include all six films, as well as presumably a ton of bonus features. Unless Lucasfilm plans to save those for the 36th Anniversary Collection the following year, of course.

We will give you folks the heads up once anything is confirmed. In the meantime, be sure to check out The Digital Bits for CES coverage over the next few days.
