Remember back in the day when Facebook credits would earn you random applications or those cute little icons you could send people on their birthday? As Facebook has grown more sophisticated, many of these things have fallen away. This only leaves room for new ideas, and Warner Brothers Digital Distribution has a big one.

Beginning today at 10:00 p.m. Pacific time/1:00 a.m. Eastern time, Facebook users will be allowed to rent any of five titles using Facebook credits. To find the films, you can just go to the Warner Bros. Entertainment page. The titles Warner Bros. is set to rent are Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone, Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets, Inception, Life as We Know It, and Yogi Bear. Renting any of these titles will allow you full control via Facebook for the 48 hours following the purchase. You can even leave Facebook and resume watching upon return. You’ll also be fully Facebook functional while watching, so the movies shouldn’t keep you from posting on walls, etc. during your viewing time.

Earlier this month, Warner Bros. released a Facebook-credit version of The Dark Knight to test the waters. If you want to check out what streaming any of the new films will be like, just go to The Dark Knight’s Facebook page and click the giant “Watch Now” link. The film will cost you 30 credits, or $3.

With tons of Warner Bros. fan pages, it can be a little tricky to find these films. The easiest way to reach all of them at once would be to “like” the company in your interests. However, if you decide to do a random search make sure you click on the Warner Bros. Entertainment Company. If that doesn’t work, you can always head to the official Facebook page for any of the films and click “Watch Now.” If this is successful, there will be a whole new way to kill time on Facebook.
