Black Friday is still a few weeks away from sending everyone into a buy-hungry frenzy, but Nintendo wanted to get in on the action early by giving gamers a heads-up about a specially themed Nintendo 2DS system designed after one of Nintendo's most beloved series, The Legend of Zelda.
Nintendo has announced that a new Link-themed green Nintendo 2DS system with brightly colored orange buttons will be available for $79.99, and it will come with The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D pre-installed on it. So you'll get a cool, rare new handheld and a free game with it.
This will also be accompanied by another Legend of Zelda bundle, specifically one themed around Nintendo's latest AAA outing, The Legend of Zelda: Breath of Wild, which will come packaged in the bundle along with a 100-page explorer's guide and a two-sided map. You'll be able to get the game in the bundle for the Nintendo Switch for only $59.99, which isn't a bad price at all.
One thing that's mentioned in the press release is that the Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild bundle does not come with the season pass. For some reason you'll have to purchase the season pass separately if you want to get your hands on the additional content.
And, speaking of the Switch, Nintendo will also be making the new hybrid gaming system available on Black Friday in a special deal that will include the Switch and a free download code for Super Mario Odyssey, along with a specially themed red Joy-Con controller set and a special carrying case all for only $379.99. That's a pretty good deal, especially considering that the Nintendo Switch regularly costs $299.99 all by itself and Super Mario Odyssey costs $59.99.
In addition to that, you'll also be able to get the Nintendo 2DS XL separate from the Legend of Zelda bundle for only $149.99 in a special white-and-orange livery for a limited time. Starting November 3rd there will also be another Nintendo 2DS XL that will be available in the form of a Poke Ball edition, which will cost $159.99.
Last, but not least, is a Xenoblade Chronicles 2 bundle that will be available starting December 1st, which comes with a special sound selection CD, a specifically designed metal game case, and a 220-page hardcover art book all for $99.99. The special limited edition version of the game will also have a companion Xenoblade Chronicles 2-themed Pro Controller that will launch with it as well for $74.99, but you'll have to purchase that separately.
Nintendo seems to be serious about wanting to get as many eyes and hands on the 2DS and Switch as possible this fall. The holiday season will be a stiff one this time around with competition from the PS4 Pro and Xbox One X, so it appears Nintendo is taking the competition seriously this time around as opposed to being lackadaisical like it was when the Wii U came out back in 2012.
