Nintendo isn't done updating The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. In fact, the company is prepping for the launch of The Champions Ballad, the latest expansion for the game. The update contains a number of noteworthy additions, including support for some of the brand new Amiibo.

Gamespot rolled out details on the new update for the Nintendo Switch and Wii U versions of The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild version 1.3.3. The update features a few fixes to the game, including improvements to the gameplay, and squashes to a few bugs, like the one preventing the X mark for game overs from being recorded in Hero's Path mode.

Of course, beyond the fixes, there has been some much-anticipated support for four new Amiibo figurines, including the ones based on the heroes of the Divine Beast. Each Amiibo will grant you a specific buff within the game and can be used once every 24 hours.

The Daruk Amiibo will give you a level 1 flame guard, while Mipha's Amiibo will give you a level 1 swim speed-up. Urbosa's Amiibo will give you electricity resistance and Revali will grant you cold resistance.

While the buffs are only for level 1 protection, they could definitely come in handy when playing the game and facing off against some of the Divine Beast bosses. They can be extremely difficult if you're not sure how to take them on, but with the extra buffs, it will make it a heck of a lot easier.

There's also a bonus quest that's been added to the game. The side-quest includes special armor pieces from Monolith Soft's Xenoblade Chronices 2, the upcoming action-RPG that's due out for the Nintnedo Switch.

Players will be able to unlock Rex's armor by collecting all the pieces to complete the entire set.

Nintendo has been periodically updating The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild throughout the year since its release on March 3rd alongside the launch of the Nintendo Switch. One of the biggest complaints about the game on both the Wii U and Switch is that the game oftentimes run sub-30fps. The game also had some odd slowdown at times that disrupted the flow of the gameplay.

It's not like Nintendo to have a game that lacks proper performance optimization, but Breath of the Wild was just one of those really big games.

For gamers who are still playing it, the upcoming Champions Ballad will extend the gameplay even further. The expansion is only available for those who purchased the season pass for the game, and it will further the backstory involving Princess Zelda.

The expansion will also include a brand new dungeon for players to explore, along with additional gear to outfit Link with. The game was already jam-packed with tons of content, but with the next expansion, things will get even bigger for the title. Nintendo is definitely looking at having a GOTY on its hands with The Legend of Zelda: Breath of Wild, with or without the expansion packs. For now, though, gamers can experience the updates via 1.3.3 right now.
