A lot of people are geeked about a Metal Gear Solid HD Collection for the PlayStation 4. The news is spreading like wildfire. Except there's one major problem... there is no Metal Gear Solid HD Collection in the works from the studio that people thought were making it.

DualShockers is reporting that the rumors of Armature Studios working on a collection of high-definition remasters of Metal Gear Solid have turned out to be false. The studio was contacted by DualShockers who reached out to confirm if the studio really was working on a collection, and the studio responded by stating that there is no HD collection in the works...

Unfortunately this was simply a typo by one of our web developers and is neither a leak nor indication that the MGS HD collection is coming to PS4. Or that Armature is working on any new MGS games.

So how did this rumor even get started and gain any sort of traction? Well, it started with an update on the new Armature Studios' website. In the original update, there was a typo, where it mentioned that the previous Metal Gear Solid HD Collection that it worked on for the PlayStation Vita, which released back in 2012, was being made for the PlayStation 4.

The typo on the website sent the internet into a frenzy. Rumors began to swell thanks to posts on Reddit and social media, where gamers excited about the possibility of Metal Gear Solid making a return to form on the PlayStation 4 caused them to go into a tizzy. However, it was not meant to be and Armature Studios had to end up shutting down the rumor before it became too widespread.

A lot of people have been hoping for some kind of new Metal Gear Solid game that isn't Metal Gear Survive. Many want to re-experience what Hideo Kojima had done with the series up to Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain. However, Konami hasn't been intent on saying much about the series outside of the upcoming survival game scheduled for release later in the month for PC, PS4 and Xbox One.

Plans for the series after that have been completely wiped off the slate for as far as announcements are concerned. The company hasn't announced any future plans for the series and Armature Studios seems to confirm that Metal Gear Solid isn't on its radar for anything anytime soon.

Gamers were excited for the possibility of playing the original Metal Gear Solid, Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty, and Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater in glorious HD or UHD on the PS4 Pro. I'm sure a lot of gamers also hoped to play a PS4 rendition of Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots. In fact, it's almost high time that we could be seeing a UHD remaster of that game given that it's actually been a decade since its release on the PS3.

Alas, if there is an HD collection for Metal Gear Solid in the works it certainly isn't being made by Armature Studios.
