Ghost Recon Online Adds Clan/Noob Support, Halloween Content

Ubisoft has announced the release of a new patch for its third-person massively multiplayer online team shooter, Ghost Recon Online, bringing some new features to the free-to-play game, as well as some Halloween content.

Ghost Recon Online moves one step closer to becoming a fully-featured online shooting experience with patch 0.9.0. But before we get to the game's new features, let's quickly discuss that disappointing Halloween content. For a limited time, players will have access to some new, somewhat spookified versions of their avatar skins. Now each player's Assault, Specialist and Recon characters can look kind of like they have a skull mask on, or kind of like they're donning a creepy shroud. Actually, the new skins look pretty dang nice. What's disappointing about this Halloween content is in the game's name, GHOST Recon. All these years wishing I could actually play as a squad of ghost soldiers and they blow this perfect opportunity to let me do exactly that. Ah well, at least a new collection of Halloween guns will also be available for a limited time.

As for those new features, there's a little something here for every skill level within the game. First up is the Beginner's Playlist. So long as all of your three characters are within a 1-4 level range, you will have access to a special server of matches specifically targeted at keeping newcomers playing together. Now you can jump in an learn the game's basics with players of a similar skill level, rather than getting mowed over by the game's vets.

For those who have been around for a while and prefer a little more teamwork in their Ghost Recon Online experience, the first wave of Clan content has been made available. Players can now make and manage their own clans, add clan tags and customizable clan crests with this most recent update, making it easier than ever to find and play with your closest buds. On Jan. 16 of next year, the ability to play in ranked and unranked clan matches will be added to the mix.

For all of this an more, head on over to Ghost Recon Online's official website and get to shooting stuff.
