The latest craze in movies is that everything is converting to 3D. James Cameron’s cartoony blue-people movie got everyone’s knickers in Hollywood up in a bunch to create or cash in on the whole 3D movie thing. Well, the craze didn’t stop with Hollywood execs. Square Enix and Avalanche Studios are moving gaming in the same direction as movies with the new Nvidia trailer showing Just Cause 2 sporting support for stereoscopic 3D.

Now I’ve tested some of this 3D stuff at tradeshows before and let me tell you, it’s entirely unconvincing. It reminds me of the Emperor’s New Clothes, with a bunch of people telling you “Hey, you see it? See the extended depth of field and how things pop out?” I amicably responded with a curt, “No”. Plain and simple the whole 3D thing isn’t impressive at all, but that doesn’t mean Just Cause 2 doesn’t look drop-dead gorgeous…because it does.

You can check out the two new trailers below featuring the PC graphics tech (including 3D) and the launch of the demo, which is currently available for gamers to experience. For more information be sure to visit the Official Website.
