TrackMania Celebrates 10 Years With Special Events

For the past decade, the TrackMania series has been all about fun cars, fast tracks and white-knuckle online racing, while also enabling gamers to create and share their own custom track creations to help expand and extend the life of the racing series. To celebrate 10 years of fast and furious racing, Nadeo, a Ubisoft studio, is gearing up to kick off a month-long celebration full of special events and discounts on the game series.

Recently surpassing 18 million registered players, there’s no denying that the TrackMania series is a force to be reckoned with the in the world of online gaming and eSports. According to Nadeo, the company has “grown TrackMania from a simplistic puzzle game running on a few servers to a beautiful, massively-multiplayer game running on the powerful ManiaPlanet gaming system, which lets players organize, create, compete and exchange with others.”

TrackMania lets players fine-tune their cars, then hit the tracks either made by Nadeo or created by their fellow players. Some are basically obstacle courses while others are all about getting to the finish line as quickly as possible. Others are built as a sort of driving puzzle, complete with objectives and dozens of players attempting to complete them at the same time. When it comes to online driving games, TrackMania is one of the biggest names in the business.

TrackMania Nations was one of the first titles that presented itself as an eSport,” said Ubisoft CEO and co-founder, Yves Guillemot. “Ten years later, the games are as relevant and dynamic as ever, and that is a tribute to the Nadeo team and the passionate, growing community of TrackMania players.”

To celebrate 10 years of driving awesomeness, Nadeo is hosting several special events, including free multiplayer demos of all TrackMania games through Dec. 15. There will also be three community creation contests over the course of the next month, including an emphasis on track building, 3D car modeling and skinning and video creation.

“Additionally, Nadeo is hosting a worldwide LANiversary party for fans on Dec. 14,” reads a statement from Ubisoft. “The event will include community tournaments and a TrackMania retrospective.”

Finally, for newcomers to the series or those wishing to finish off their collection of TrackMania games, a bundle of all three titles is being made available for $19.99, or $29.99 if you want to include TrackMania United Forever.
