So everyone pretty much already knew a Transformers movie-game sequel was in the works. I mean, Cinema Blend did already have game posters up before it was supposed to be up. So I guess this isn’t too much of surprising news for everyone who was already expecting it.
“Activision has developed a Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen video game that will give gamers and fans a truly compelling way to experience TRANSFORMERS,” said Mark Blecher, Hasbro’s General Manager of Digital Gaming and Media. “The Activision team’s passion for the property clearly shows in the character development, intense action and rich graphics that really deliver an immersive experience for the user.”
Yes, well all that snazzy stuff about a good “immersive experience” is only as good as a game that doesn’t suck. That’s pretty much the only thing gamers really ask for.
Anyway, Transformers 2 (because that’s what it is) the game will feature global locations, such as Cairo and Shanghai. Like the first game, players will be able to fly, fight on the ground, interact with the environments, drive and generally wreck havoc in a 3D virtual environment as either an Autobot or Decepticon.
Like the movie, the game will feature a much larger cast of characters and weapons for players to utilize. Hopefully it’s the sort of weapon cache that makes you feel good about blowing brick and mortar to pieces. Otherwise, it just won’t feel right.
The game will see the light of day on the Xbox 360, PS3, PC, PS2, Wii, DS and PSP. Let me know if I forgot one. The game is scheduled for a 2009 release...more details on the game will be announced by Activision soon.
