Coming out to swing gloves and throw haymakers, Microsoft finally has some good PR that doesn't involve shooting off their own feet: The Xbox One has successfully sold through one million SKUs in just 24 hours across 13 nations. Impressive.

Coming off Sony's announcement earlier this week announcing that they've sold a million PS4 units in a single day, Microsoft decided to show the same kind of business savvy verve by announcing that they hit the million-unit mark the very same day that the console launched.

Congratulations Microsoft... for doing in 13 countries what Sony was able to do in one.

8th-Circuit managed to copy over the text from Microsoft's official Xbox site, where the company had this to boast about their third-generation home entertainment system, writing...
"The team is excited to confirm the launch of Xbox One was the biggest launch in Xbox history, with more than one million consoles sold through worldwide in less than 24 hours – surpassing day one Xbox 360 sales and setting a new record for Microsoft,"

The site goes on to rundown numerical statistics that most people don't care about, such as 60 million zombies being slayed in Dead Rising 3, 3.6 million miles being driven in Forza 5 and more than 7.1 million combos delivered in Killer Instinct.

The needless gloating over measureless figures is probably to do with the fact that the only game that scored moderately glowing reviews from critics is Forza Motorsport 5.

Ryse turned out to be a bit of an embarrassment.

Yusuf Mehdi, Corporate Vice President of Marketing and Strategy at Xbox, commented on the console's successful launch, stating that...
“We are humbled and grateful for the excitement of Xbox fans around the world,” ... “Seeing thousands of excited fans lined up to get their Xbox One and their love for gaming was truly a special moment for everyone on the Xbox team. We are working hard to create more Xbox One consoles and look forward to fulfilling holiday gift wishes this season.”

Despite the deep and bitter rivalry between Sony and Microsoft – both companies entrenched in the brutal eighth gen console war – two of the top execs at Sony sent out congratulations to Microsoft, letting the mini-'M' know that all is fair in fanboy wars and console battles.

As noted on PSU, Shuhei Yoshida and Adam Boyes, part of the Sony PlayStation Dream Team, sent out the following toward the green and black team...

Too much class for you? No problem. We brought the upper echelon of respect in the console wars back down to the drudge of the gutter, right where it belongs, by trashing the Xbox One and PS4 in a Metacritic slaughter handed out by Nintendo. Yeah, we went there. #DealWithIt.
