24 Movie Is The Real Deal

The “24” movie is no longer a myth. Variety reports that Twentieth Century Fox has closed a deal to turn the real-time TV thriller into a big-time movie. Series creators Robert Cochran and Joel Surnow will write the script, and showrunner Howard Gordon is working on the story. As of now, a rough sketch of the plot is underway.

Kiefer Sutherland is not officially on board yet, but he has expressed interest and there is no way he will turn down the large sums of money waved in his face. Besides, what kind of “24” movie wouldn’t have Jack Bauer in it?

Surnow and Cochran will finalize the full script after the 6th season of “24” beginning in January, 2007. Shooting will then begin next spring and summer during the hiatus before the 7th season. Their plan is to ditch the real-time formula of the TV show, allowing for bigger plot options—including international travel, possibly in London. Also, the film is intended to be more accessible to those who haven’t watched the series (all 3 of you), so it won’t revolve too much around previous “24” mythology.

Is this movie a good idea? Will it be a bigger disaster than terrorism itself? We'll find out soon enough.
