The trailers for Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows have shown us some pretty cool things, from an epic chase through the woods while gunfire splinters trees to the various disguises of the titular hero. Hell, we've even gotten glimpses of Rachel McAdams' Irene Adler, who we weren't even sure would be returning until late in the game. One particular thing that has been kept from us, however, is our first look at Mycroft Holmes, played by Stephen Fry. Despite the fact that he is one of the most exciting additions to the sequel - who doesn't want to see Fry get more work? - Sherlock's intellectual brother has been kept entirely out of the marketing. Until today, that is.

Warner Bros. has released 48 new images from Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows, a few of which give us our first glimpse at the Holmes sibling. Check out three of the images below (click each one to see it in high-res) and head over to our database for the rest.

In the sequel, which also adds new castmembers Noomi Rapace and Jared Harris, Sherlock Holmes and Watson (Robert Downey Jr. and Jude Law) are on the hunt for the most dangerous criminal they have ever faced: Professor Moriarty. As violent incidents around the world have resulted in many murderers with seemingly no pattern, Holmes finds himself in a race against time to stop the evil genius before it is too late. Directed by Guy Ritchie and written by Kieran and Michele Mulroney, Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows is set to arrive in theaters on December 16.
