New Adidas Line Makes Star Wars Look... Cool?

When I was a kid, I played Star Wars with my friends on the playground while all the popular kids were off playing tetherball and four square. And this was before the special editions came out in 1997. Hell, since 1977, anyone who loved Star Wars to the point that they would dress up like their favorite character was considered a geek. So when the fuck did it become cool? Did I miss a memo?

Adidas has released a new commercial for its line of Star Wars apparel, and I couldn't be more confused. Stickball? Outdoor parties? David Beckham? Running? Breakdancing? Snoop Dogg? This has to be the first time that sports and extensive social interaction has been melded with George Lucas' most famous brand. The only thing that really makes sense here is the presence of Daft Punk, but that's really only because they have been dressing like droids since 1993. It's not a bad commercial by any means (actually pretty awesome), but it doesn't seem to make much sense. Check out the new Star Wars Adidas commercial below.
