Don't be alarmed by the accents you hear in this clip. Though it's a scene straight out of classic Americana, with a pretty lady in an American-flag bikini astride an old pickup truck, this moment comes from The Broken Circle Breakdown, a Belgian film coming to theaters on November 1. A standout at this year's Tribeca Film Festival, where it won the prize for Best Actress and Best Screenplay, Broken Circle Breakdown is a bluegrass infused love story about two musicians who fall for each other, but who are torn apart by the obstacles that life knows how to throw in the way. The clip above, as you might guess, comes from early in their relationship, when Elise (Veerle Baetens) provides Didier (Johan Heldenbergh) a surprise directly out of his fantasies Here's the film's official synopsis for more:

Elise (Veerle Baetens) and Didier (Johan Heldenbergh) fall in love at first sight. She has her own tattoo shop and he plays the banjo in a bluegrass band. They bond over their shared enthusiasm for American music and culture, and dive headfirst into a sweeping romance that plays out on and off stage — but when an unexpected tragedy hits their new family, everything they know and love is tested. An intensely moving portrait of a relationship from beginning to end, propelled by a soundtrack of foot-stomping bluegrass, The Broken Circle Breakdown is a romantic melodrama of the highest order.
