Choo Choo Redo

Ever heard of Noam Murro? Obviously you don't keep up with the television commercial division of the Director's Guild of America. You should be ashamed. After all, their awards ceremony is the 329th most watched show on public access stations in Burbank.

Well, nevermind your ignorance of the TV commercial industry. The Hollywood Reporter announced that Noam Murro (who is an award winning commercial director and has directed ads for such prestigious companies as Bud Light, Nike, Starbucks and eBay) is the next in line to do a needless remake film. In their ongoing quest to cannibalize all successful past project ideas, Warner Bros. has decided to remake Alfred Hitchcock's Strangers on a Train.

David Seltzer (the man who wrote the adaptation for the 1971 Willy Wonka) is re-adapting the book by Patricia Highsmith which suggests this project is a little more like a redo than a remake. Nevertheless, sending a commercial helmer into Hollywood wearing Alfred Hitchcock's shoes doesn't insprire me with confidence. In fact, it's downright disgusting. But I'll save my editorial rants for after-the-disaster commentaries. No word yet on whether or not the film will include a jingle or heavy AmTrak product placement.
