Elijah Wood Gets Violent In Red Band Trailer For Maniac

When you think back to Elijah Wood's part in Robert Rodriguez's Sin City it's a lot easier to imagine him as a psychotic, blood-thirsty, cannibalistic killer and not just that kid from Flipper and Frodo from The Lord of the Rings. He has played other unstable characters since, most notably in the FX series Wilfred, but now he's back to doing it on the big screen as the lead in Franck Khalfoun's remake of William Lustig's Maniac.

The horror film will be playing at the Cannes Film Festival this week and Twitch has gotten their hands on what appears to be a sales trailer. I should mention that this video is not for work or for the kids as it is chock full of blood, nudity and violence. You've been warned!

Written by Alexandre Aja and Gregory Levasseur, Maniac is about a young man named Frank (Wood), the owner of a mannequin store who prefers to keep to himself. His life is going along peacefully until he meets a beautiful young artist named Anna (Nora Arnezeder), with whom he immediately becomes obsessed. But this obsession is not only dangerous for Anna, but for everyone, as it unleashes the hunter nature within Frank. The film also stars America Olivo, Morgane Slemp, Genevieve Alexandra, Liane Balaban and Sammi Rotibi.
