The black sheep comedy has been done over and over and over. That’s why it’s so interesting to see a new spin on the concept. Instead of a black sheep sibling to a powerful political figure, how about a black sheep brother for Santa Claus? That’s the concept behind Fred Claus and the latest trailer really makes this look like it could be a modern holiday classic on par with Elf.
Previously the only real look we got at Fred Claus was the teaser trailer which featured a conversation between Fred (Vince Vaughn) and Santa (Paul Giamatti). Now we get a look at the actual plot of the movie, which looks like Fred coming home to the North Pole to help with the operation. Hilarity ensues, as does a genuine threat to the future of Christmas.
I continue to be a big fan of both Vaughn and Giamatti, and this looks like a great next movie for both actors, utilizing their comedic skills and most likely some tender hearted moments as well.
