Hack/Slash Destined To Be Horror Classic

Comic book and video game geeks, you have a new overlord, and his name is Justin Marks. He’s the guy who will be bringing you the Street Fighter movie, starring Chun Li. He’s the guy writing the screenplay for He-Man: Masters of the Universe. He’s the guy daring to write a movie about the Green Arrow. And now he’s the guy giving the world perhaps the best horror movie title of all time-- Hack/Slash.

The Hollywood Reporter writes that Marks will write Rogue Pictures’ adaptation of the cult graphic novel, about a vigilante named Cassie Hack who travels the country in search of serial killers. Marks has never written a full-length movie that’s been released, but he’s in good company with director Todd Lincoln, who will be making his directing debut.

I’m staunchly against the flood of graphic novels that are taking the place of original screenplays in Hollywood, but even I’ll admit this concept sounds totally awesome. A female serial killer who only kills serial killers? Sounds like The Bride from Kill Bill, but hopefully without the yellow tracksuit and the obnoxious Tarantino tics (yeah, I said it!). If Marks pull this movie off, as well as the huge amount of other projects he has in development, he’ll pretty much be worshiped as a god. Can you imagine putting your creative stamp on Chun-Li, He-Man and someone named Cassie Hack? I don’t know this for sure, but I assume he’s like 24 and a millionaire. I’ll try not to hate him when he’s elected King of the Geek World.
