Hotel Transylvania 2 Is In The Works

If you'll pardon the pun, Hotel Transylvania really was a monster hit (sorry, I just really couldn't resist). Costing a tight $85 million for Sony Pictures Animation, the film managed to pull down more than $250 million globally and while it didn't overwhelm critics it managed to get a few positive marks. So naturally it's taking the standard Hollywood path and prepping part two.

THR has gotten word that Sony has already begun development work on Hotel Transylvania 2 and have given a release date on September 25, 2015 (joining epics like The Avengers 2, Justice League and Star Wars Episode VII, all of which are also supposed to come out that calendar year). And the studio is going to need their time because it looks like the project is currently working without a director. Genndy Tartakovsky directed the first movie, but the same studio, Sony Pictures Animation, has already hired him to direct a new version of Popeye, which they have dated for September 26, 2014.

The trade report also doesn't mention if the sequel will retain its voice cast, which included popular names like Adam Sandler, Andy Samberg, Kevin James, Cee-Lo Green, Selena Gomez, David Spade and Steve Buscemi. The original is set in a hotel for monsters that sees a bit of chaos get introduced when a human discovers the location.

What would you like to see happen in Hotel Transylvania 2? Who do you think would be a good replacement for Tartakovsky if he officially can't return? Let us know what you would like to see in the sequel in the comments section below.
